Dear Decision-making,
One idea that I find most identify with is “decisions are more important than effort” this is not an idea that has been mentioned by a single person, instead it is an ideas keep popping out in every guest speakers speech, weather it is director LI, the vp of Boeing company, or it is the alumnus that I had dinner with. By decisions are more important that effort, it does not mean effort do not matter, in fact success is indispensable to success. What it really means is, before you make effort you need to first decide which way you want to go so your effort won’t be wasted. Think about it, if you run toward the right direction, you will be closer and closer to success, but you run towards the wrong direction, you will only be further away from your destination.
As described by Director Xiao, the wife the Director Li, there are three most critical decisions in our lives, they are the choice in education, the choice in relationship, the choice in career. This make sense, because only with a good education you will have a solid foundation, only with a harmony relationship, you can pursuit your dream with no concern, only with a good career you can run on the right path.
Now at this point of my life, I am making the first very critical decision, my education. To be more specific, my major. I realized to make this decision, I really need to have a taste of all possible subjects so I will be comfortable in my final decision.
Sincerely,
Leo
